"I can never read all the books I want; I can never be all the people I want and live all the lives I want. I can never train myself in all the skills I want. And what do I want? I want to live and feel all the shades, tones and variations of mental and physical experience possible in life. And I am horribly limited."
- Sylvia Plath

The Flaming Lips - Do You Realize
This is funny because I’ve never been that into The Flaming Lips. Not because I think they’re bad, just because they seem to be part of a music movement that people my age experienced in college (like Ben Folds) and because I didn’t have a normal college experience I totally missed it. I even went to see them New Years 05 at MSG with Wilco and their show sorta blew my mind. The fact that it happened almost 5 years ago blows my mind even more. Anyway, that was a good night and this is a good song.
Representing Oklahoma, making me proud. Also, the DVD of their Zoo Amphitheater is quite amazing, but not as amazing as it was to see it in person. But if you weren’t there, check it out.

"They say a person needs just three things to be truly happy in this world. Someone to love, something to do, and something to hope for."

“Children don’t read to find their identity, to free themselves from guilt, to quench the thirst for rebellion or to get rid of alienation. They have no use for psychology… They still believe in God, the family, angels, devils, witches, goblins, logic, clarity, punctuation, and other such obsolete stuff… When a book is boring, they yawn openly. They don’t expect their writer to redeem humanity, but leave to adults such childish illusions.”
Nobel lecture as quoted in The Observer (17 December 1978) Varian, by Isaac Beshevis Singer
